Desert Water Plumbing and Rooter

What Plumbing Actually Costs in the Phoenix Valley

Most plumbing websites hide the price until you call. We don’t. Here is what the common jobs cost with Desert Water, what moves the number, and how we work when something turns out different than expected.

Drain cleaning: $265 flat

One price for clearing a drain. If we need a camera look to see what is in the line, it is included.

Smoke test, $585 to $895. A smoke test finds broken pipes in your walls that cause leaks and bad smells. We do these by appointment only, but the need can be spotted on any drain call or camera inspection. Our best plumbers do these, and we offer repairs on site for quick relief.

Hydrojetting: usually $1,250, same day

Hydrojetting clears grease and buildup with high-pressure water. The price moves with demand and with machine repairs, so we tell you the number before we start.

Faucet swap: $265 to $365, quoted by phone

Most standard faucets fall in that range. Fancy or cut-out faucets get a written bid, because the work changes. A cluttered or dirty work area adds time, and we say so up front.

Toilets: installs start at $265

Toilet installs start at $265, and the fancier the toilet, the more it costs. We’ve installed some for over $1,000. We’ll supply a Kohler Sterling toilet with delivery, haul-away and everything else for $685. A Toto is $1,385. Or we can quote installing the toilet you already have. We warranty our work either way, and we only warranty the parts when we supply them.

Shower and tub cartridges: $385 to $685

Most standard shower and tub cartridges replaced by a professional run $385 to $685, usually somewhere in the middle. We quote on site because the valve, the brand and what’s behind the wall change the job. If the cartridge can’t be fixed, we can usually put in a new valve with standard trim for $785 to $1,250. Fancier trim is available, but it’s hard to quote online. We keep the common Delta, Moen and Pfister cartridges on our trucks and in our warehouse. Part of the price is being ready for the call and having the right parts on the truck when it matters most. We can special order just about anything fancy. If it isn’t one of those, expect a bid for the follow-up visit. Same-day isn’t realistic without a lot of driving around and extra cost, and that’s negotiable on site. We work on Delta 1300, 1400 and 1700 series valves, Moen 1222 and 1255 cartridges, Pfister Avante, Kohler and Symmons, including thermostatic and volume-control valves.

Leaks

  • Leak check: free.
  • Small exposed leaks: from $385, usually same day.
  • A leak inside a wall: $685 to $895.
  • If the job means digging, the price goes up once the shovel comes out. We work hard outside in the heat, and we charge for it honestly. You know the number before you commit.

Slab leak: $3,450 to $5,000

We reroute overhead only, so we don’t tear up your floor. Finding the leak is free at these prices. If we can’t find it, we pay a specialist to find it.

Whole-house repipe: $15,000 to $25,000

Flat roofs make a repipe harder, so the final number comes from a written bid after we walk the house with you.

Sewer line: rarely under $895

Most sewer repairs need a camera look first. Anything beyond a small fix gets a written bid after that look. If another company has already bid your job, we give a free second opinion. We also work with lining partners who offer a 15-year transferable warranty.

Water heaters

$1,950 installed, same day available through October 31. Bradford White 50-gallon gas (RG250T6N) or 50-gallon electric (RE250T6-1NCWW), the two heaters we keep in stock, 6-year tank warranty, pan, supply lines, ball valve and haul-away included. Starting November 1: $1,950 when it’s scheduled out a few days, which is why we keep those tanks at the shop, and $2,250 to $2,450 if you need it today, because that pulls our most experienced plumbers off the jobs that matter most. Bradford White tank, 6-year tank warranty, drain pan, supply lines, ball valve and haul-away included. Anything other than a 50-gallon natural gas tank that fits where the old one sits is a bigger job, because tanks keep getting bigger, and may be a good candidate for a Navien 240A tankless. A lot has to be just right before one of those goes in, so we send a specialist first and catch it up front, instead of you getting surprised with a rising cost and no hot water. Tankless usually runs $5,500, or $4,999 if we can plan well ahead, and goes up from there if anything isn’t perfect.

We always check your water pressure and tell you what we find. High pressure shortens a heater’s life and changes what we can warranty, so if you need a pressure regulator we quote it on site. We stock them on every truck and warranty the work. If you need an expansion tank, we’ll tell you. We won’t force one on you, but you’ll know we offered it.

Water softeners and reverse osmosis

  • We’re trying something new: Advanced series 48K softener installed, $1,650 through October 31. Most customers step up to the Hero, ask us about it. You need a serviceable loop for this price. Any upgrades are extra and at the customer’s discretion.
  • Reverse osmosis: $985 special through October 31, 2026. Regular $1,250.
  • RO with alkaline: $1,250 special.

We’re fine going over pricing for what you’re worried about on the phone, but you need a serviceable softener loop. If you don’t have one, we can usually build a good one for $985 to $3,000. If you want the hose bibs isolated so your pool still gets calcium, that’s usually an extra $685 to $985, your choice. You don’t want to water your grass with softened water. You can if you want, but when we can, we’ll give you the option to run a new hard-water line to the irrigation.

All softener prices are for a 48K (1.5 cubic foot) system. Larger families and larger homes may need the next size up. We quote that as needed, with the same low pricing and the same great warranty.

Houses on a well are a different story. We’ll install whatever you want, but we won’t try to sell you anything until we’ve done a well test, $485. That’s for people who really want options for arsenic, bacteria and nitrates. Drinking water can usually be fixed with an RO, and the $985 RO special may be the answer. Anything beyond that gets expensive fast: don’t plan on removing anything serious from the whole house for less than $3,500, and you get the real price after the test. We’ve done a lot of these. If you just want to talk to a specialist about arsenic, nitrates and bacteria, we’re happy to go over it on the phone. Honestly, we don’t think there’s a well in our service area without at least one of the three. Arsenic is almost always there at some level, and bacteria is a crapshoot, which is why we’ll want a UV light on any well house we take care of. That stuff can make you really sick.

How we work

  • No Saturday surcharge.
  • No per-hour emergency rates. We cap the price and plan the work instead.
  • Service calls run 8 AM to 7 PM, Monday through Saturday. Phones are answered 24/7.
  • We give you a cost range up front. If the job grows past it, we share a fair part of the extra cost, within reason.
  • Every job carries a 2-year labor warranty.
  • Already a Desert Water customer? We usually have customer-only specials, and we email them to the people who already know us. It’s our way of giving back to the folks who call us twice.

If you trust us, call us. We might be able to set you up with the right guy at the right price. Or skip all of this and just have us deal with it. That’s what we specialize in, and our reviews show it.

If it’s our work, we respond right away, any hour, and we make it right. If you don’t like the guy who shows up, send him home. We will send someone else.

Call 602-699-4401 for a quote, or book online.

Got a quote from another company but you’d rather use us? Give us a call and we’ll work with you. We can’t move much, but we’ll sure try. Second opinions are always free.

Seeing a price that seems too low? Some companies use loss leaders, a cheap price to get in the door. Some prices only make sense when nobody’s in the office and nobody answers the phone. With us, a live person answers, and you can already text us too.

For property managers and commercial clients
